Fish oil is an important ingredient, that provide human body with omega-3 fatty acid. Omega-3 are necessary for mental and physical health. Regular supplementation is essential, because they take part in many metabolic processes in human body. The most important omega-3 fatty acids are EPA – eicosapentaenoic acid and DHA – docosahexaenoic acid. Human body lacks enzymatic systems capable of putting double bonds into n-3 position of carbon chain, so omega-3 fatty acids can’t be synthesized de novo, and on the other hand human body can transform plant oils into biologically active compounds, but in insufficient amounts. That is why the source of those fatty acid is diet rich in fat fish (salmon, herring, sardelle or mackerel).
